Use of monitoring methods

Theme: Demand
Indicator: Use of monitoring methods
Reference date: 29/5/2015 (Enumerate Core Survey 3)
Monitoring frequency: biennial
Institution types: museums, libraries, archives, other
Geographical scope: Europe

var embedDeltas={"100":578,"200":507,"300":436,"400":400,"500":400,"600":400,"700":365,"800":365,"900":365,"1000":365},chart=document.getElementById("datawrapper-chart-3jkjt"),chartWidth=chart.offsetWidth,applyDelta=embedDeltas[Math.min(1000, Math.max(100*(Math.floor(chartWidth/100)), 100))]||0,newHeight=applyDelta;"px";

This is an indicator of the popularity of a limited number of monitoring methods, like website statistics, social media statistics (e.g. Facebook, Flickr, Youtube, Wikipedia), database statistics (if not included in website statistics and social media statistics) and user studies. An institution may of course make use of more than one of these methods.

Website statistics is a widely used way to measure the use of the digital collections. 91% of the institutions that measure digital access use web statistics. Database statistics are used by 41%, social media statistics 38%, and user studies 20%.

The responses are fairly consistent over the years, with any fluctuations negligible.
